February Athlete of the Month

Michelle

Coaches love Michelle because she’s got a great attitude and is super motivated. Best combo ever! We love watching her improve every day, and can’t wait to see where she is in another 6 months with us. (Oh, and she also has the best signature “crazy face” ever!)

How long have you been at SODO?

I started August of 2016 with WBBC, so about six months.

What inspired you to start?

I had been meaning to go to the gym for years, I would start and always quit after a few weeks, what finally motivated me to actually stick with working out and improving my health, was my brother announcing that he was having a baby. I wanted to be healthy for her and be able to play with, run with, and be there for her as she grows up.

What makes you stick with it?

I feel so much better, both physically and mentally, I have so much more confidence then I did when I first started. My niece Estelle and my nephew Harris, I want to be there for them as they grow up.

What’s your favorite movement?

Squats, I finally have a booty!!!

What’s your current health- or fitness-related goal?

My goals are to make healthier decisions with food and life, and to actually run a 5K instead of just walking it.

What do you do for fun?

Lately it has been baby cuddles and gaming (D&D, and board games) but I also love to read, cook, and bake.

Any advice for newcomers?

You can do this! When I first started I could not even do a sit up. I know that I have looked at the WOD, and thought I can’t do this, this is crazy. But you put your nose to the grindstone and get it done. You get a sense of accomplishment when you finish it and you are that much stronger.
